This was a fun and busy week in the Farm, so I'm going to post about that instead of Boyne pics, even though those will be coming soon.
I took a week break from FB and it was great. I found myself becoming a little obsessed with reading the news feed, and I am happy to say that after a week-long break, I no longer feel the need to constantly see what other people are doing in FB land. I also removed three blogs from my feed yesterday in the interest of me not being on the computer so much.
Most extreme couponers who have been doing it for awhile know that the deals in the past year have been a bit weak. There just aren't as many awesome deals and freebies as there have been in the past, so when a good one comes up, I have learned I need to get it. There were a ton of good deals this week...super cheap diapers (we are hoping we now have enough to last us till Lexi is potty trained, probably wishful thinking!) a great photo deal, cheap makeup, free toothpaste, free dryer sheets, and some good grocery deals. All this means some extra trips to the stores, so I have been a shopping maniac this week.
Sasha was invited to a birthday party at Pump it Up that happened today, and we realized as we were almost there that we went to the wrong location. We eventually made it to the right place and had a great time with some fun friends.
We also found an awesome new restuarant today, the Kalamata Greek Cafe. If you live in SE MI, you must go there now. We went because we had a Groupon and we will definitely be back.
A few years ago I met a friend from Spain who had a daughter Sasha's age and I asked her if she had ever considered teaching Spanish. She said she was interested, but it wasn't the right time for her. Well, I am super excited that my friend is now ready to do it and Sasha will be starting Spanish classes with her in March! We went over to her house this week to talk about the classes and I loved the fact that she already would only talk to Sasha in Spanish. Sasha would look at me like "Huh?" but she totally went along with it. And of course Sasha wanted to show off the Spanish she already knows. My friend is going to be an amazing teacher who makes learning really fun and experiential. Can't wait to see how it all goes!
Another morning this week when after I dropped Sasha off at school, I attended an exercise class that the Mom's Club put on. It was at this woman's house who does these really small circuit training classes right in in her home. While it was a little strange at first to be doing laps up and down her stairs, pretend cross-country skiing on towels in her kitchen, hula hooping in her living room, and doing the plank on her automan, it ended up being so fun and such a great workout. I felt so great afterwards that I signed up for the rest of her winter session. Other bonuses are that she is super close to my house, I can bring my kids and they just play while we work out, and she gives massages after class! You can't beat that!
One thing about life right now is that the afternoons get long. Like looooong. I am a morning person who is super motivated and energetic until about 1:30pm. Then I deflate. Alexis sleeps the afternoon away while I waste many hours being unproductive and try to figure out things to do with Sasha. I usually end up googling "kids crafts" or something like that and this week I found this. (BTW, I love how the sample name is Tasha!) I highly recommend this craft because it lets kids practice cutting, painting or coloring, gluing, and letters. And most importantly, Sasha loved it. I also have to add that she still calls a caterpillar a "callapitter."
This morning Alexis needed to have her hair done. I decided to be crazy and attempt to cornow her entire head. It took an hour (which included taking out her other style, washing and detangling, then styling) and some Sesame Street videos on You Tube, but I ended up with this...
Not only do you see the hair, but you get a lovely shot of Sasha putting on her shoe
Look at that gorgeous face.
I think it is a pretty decent attempt. I didn't put beads in because they take a little bit longer to do and I wasn't sure the style would be worth it, but I think I might put some in tomorrow.
And last but not least, it is my dear sister Allison's birthday today! Happy Birthday Al Pal! Love you so much! :)
Yaaay for Spanish classes for Sashita. That is wonderful. Congrats on the cornrows :) I think it's fair to say that you've become a pro. She looks adorable. And you did it all of it in an hour!? Totally impressive!
