I am so thankful for Jack (and Courtney), some of my amazing neighbors who totally helped me out in the cold crisis. Jack called another neighbor friend he knew who came over and somehow fixed the furnace for us. I don't think he even knew how he did it, but that was fine with me! Sasha was very bummed that we weren't going to spend the night at Grandma's though.
The past couple days, Sasha's favorite game is "Playing Sick." She makes us all go up in her room, she lays in her bed, and she says "Mommy, tell my little sister that I am sick." So then I have to say "Little sister, big sister is sick." Then, "Mommy, tell my little sister that I have to lay in bed." I say, "Little sister, big sister has to lay in bed." This goes on and on with "Needs medicine," "Has a fever," and whatever else Sasha identifies with being sick. During this process, Alexis and I are on the floor of the room. Alexis is really into playing at Sasha's kitchen (which she got for her second birthday) and she can stand there by herself, but I always stay right by her in case there is a fall. So basically Sasha is having fun, Alexis is having fun, and I sit uncomfortably on the floor anticipating a potential fall, all the while parroting Sasha's statements. And if I happen to start daydreaming and miss one, Sasha will continually insist that I keep up the game. I won't be too sad when Sasha tires of this one!
One more Sasha comment from dinner last night...we were eating leftover chicken pot pie (mmmm...) and she was naming all the vegetables that were in it. "It has beans, I don't like that. It has carrots, I don't like those. I like corn!" I proceed to get excited that Sasha likes a vegetable, albeit the least unhealthy one and then she says..."Popcorn!" Nice.
